As a child growing up in St. Louis, Mark loved drawing sketches of skyscrapers and turning his designs into towering structures made of building blocks, books, and old newspapers. He has a similar zeal for business-building. Throughout his career, Mark has worked with dozens of companies on a variety of strategic, operational, and organizational issues. Prior to Burke America, Mark was with Roark Capital Group. At Roark, Mark focused on acquisitions and portfolio company support in the consumer and business services sectors. Prior to Roark, Mark was a vice president in the consumer and retail group at Oak Investment Partners. Bringing more than just a financial perspective to investing, he enjoys helping companies improve performance using the skills he developed while managing consulting engagements in the retail practice at McKinsey & Company in Chicago and as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in New York. Mark is a graduate of Harvard College, Phi Beta Kappa, and an honors graduate of Harvard Business School. Although he no longer plays with blocks, Mark indulged another childhood dream by learning to fly airplanes, a passion he tries to cultivate when traveling throughout the Midwest.
